The Gateway Muzzleloader match is shot on the second Saturday morning of each month on range four( silhouette).

The match is open to classic patch and ball muzzleloader rifles and pistols. Any muzzleloading rifle with any metallic sight is fine as long as a patched round ball and traditional gun powder or a safe gun powder substitute such as Pyrodex is used.

A single shot pistol with patched round ball or a cap and ball revolver is used in the pistol match.  

We arrive at the range about 7:30 for set up. the first shot is fired at 8:00.

We shoot National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association targets at 100 yards, 50 yards, and 25 yards. We also shoot a 10 shot pistol match at 25 yards. All targets are shot from the offhand position.  The pistol match is shot one handed.

Ribbons are awarded to first, second, and third place shooters on each target. Ribbons are also awarded to first to sixth on the aggregate.

We enforce Gateway Safety procedures at all times.  In addition to Gateway’s normal safety rules additional muzzleloading safety rules including keeping powder covered at all times, loading behind the firing line and no smoking on the firing line is enforced. 

We are preserving the type of shooting that was started in 1931 by the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association.
